Reality on Bravo - Check it Out on Satellite TV

Bravo, a channel satellite tv you can duly enjoy with a satellite TV subscription, is a power house of reality TV shows. The network banks on the clash of cameras, competition and voyeurism. Yet, the shows on Bravo are not your typical all out sort of reality shows. It's not the Real World, it's not Fear Factor. Bravo aims to offer high quality; high definition programming that is a cut above the rest. The audience is more sophisticated; these are the types who walk around with iPhones and hobo bags and spend their evenings with Cosmos or Hagen Daaz in front of their shiny new HD TV sets. Of course, with this crowd, you have to cater to their sense of smarts and savvy. Thus you've got shows that are little more creative and designer. Bravo is the current auteur de jour of reality TV. Here is a sampling of what you can watch.

Step It Up and Dance: So this isn't the channel's most original program, but it delights and entertains nonetheless. It's basically a smarter version of the Fox show So You Think You Can dance. By the end of the day you can see bulging muscle calves in HD, and lots of waving arms. The dancing in this show isn't just any dance, it's theatrical dance, and it's quite interesting. Winners get $100,000 in prize money and perhaps a career in Mamma Mia.

Shear Genius: This show is all about the hair. You take 12 young and aspiring hair dressers, or hair designers, or stylists, and pitch them in a grizzly competition involving shears and boxes of hair dye. So, it's not all that grizzly, but it does get catty. Contestants have to work with fussy hair models and limited amounts of time. The show features Jaclyn Smith and famous salon people like Frederic Fekkai and Sally Hershberger as judges. The winner will take away $100,000 and one of their winning styles featured in the pages of Allure. Not a very substantial amount if you think about $700 haircuts, yet it's a start. The stylists come from all over the world and have personalities that run the gamut from haughty to perky to sweet. Watch all the crazy dos in HD for best results.

The Rachel Zoe Project: Ms. Zoe is the famous stylists to young starlets like Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton. She has perfected the easy, bohemian countess look that is sported by countless Hollywood types. Her new show is basically a look at her life. We follow her around as she gets things done. There are plenty of celebrity guest stars and lots of assistant drama.

The Fashion Show: This one is fresh off the ground. It's basically like the successful Project Runway, which was locked in a network war for a while. The show features Isaac Mizrahi as host along with actress Kelly Rowland and Fern Mallis, the senior vice president of satellite tv Fashion.

These are just some of the reality TV offerings which you can catch on Bravo. Consult your satellite TV guide listings for more real TV programming.

Television Por Satellite - Enjoy Spanish Programming on Satellite TV

Hablas espaol? If you are living in the United States, there is a good chance that you hear Spanish on a regular basis. Maybe you studied it in high school or college, maybe you moved here from a Spanish speaking country (or maybe your parents or grandparents did), or maybe you have never had direct experience with it, but hear it spoken on the street. Spanish has an extremely important role in the U.S., and is also a beautiful and expressive language. There is no better way to learn Spanish, or to keep contact with it if you already speak it, than by using your satellite TV.

DirectTV offers dozens of channels in Spanish, meaning that no matter what type of programming you prefer, you will be satellite tv to find it in Spanish. There are educational and entertaining programs for kids, and it is well known that the younger a person is, the more equipped the mind to learn a new language naturally, almost effortlessly. If your child is enrolled in a Spanish class, then TV can be especially helpful. It's like fun and effortless homework! With plenty of shows made for children, you don't have to worry about the content being appropriate.

Spanish programming also includes high-definition entertainment, airing the best movies and show available. Listen with surround sound and watch on your best HD screen, and you won't be disappointed. If you haven't studied Spanish in a while, it might take some time to sort things out, but it is definitely worth it. One recommended way to start is by finding a movie or show on one of your Spanish satellite channels that you already know very well. If you already know what the characters are talking about, it makes it a lot easier to start picking up the Spanish language. Sometimes dubbing can be obnoxious, but if you already know all the dialogue in English for E.T. or The Matrix, then you will easily be able to follow along when it has been dubbed into Spanish. It is much more difficult if you stumble on a show that you know nothing about, since you have no context for the dialogue.

Satellite TV packages offer the best sports channels, and there is something undeniably intoxicating about watching soccer with Spanish commentary. The commentators always sound so enthusiastic and well-informed, and there is no need for translation when you hear the famous sound of "Gol!" With any luck, sometime soon networks will create something equivalent to football's NFL Sunday Ticket for the soccer loving crowd. It is the world's favorite sport, after all! But if it's not your favorite sport, not to worry. There are plenty of others available in Spanish, from baseball to basketball.

Whether you want to keep up with the news in Spanish or watch your favorite telenovela, satellite TV has the channels you want. Listening to Spanish is one of the best ways to develop and maintain your language skills, and it can also be fun and entertaining experience.

Satellite TV For Families

Commercial television service in the United States has been available since the early 1930's. Since that time families have gathered around the TV set to watch sporting events, favorite sitcoms, movies, news, presidential speeches, and more. Despite limited programming in the days of broadcast TV, there was usually something for most people to enjoy, or at least be mildly entertained by.

Today's world offers satellite tv whole new spectrum of TV programming. Families can choose from a wide assortment of channel packages to find the most suitable set of channels. Satellite is the most widely available television service and also offers more access to high definition channels than any other TV provider. The picture quality on these channels provides a viewing experience unlike any other.

With satellite, family sports fans could have access to NFL Sunday Ticket, offering every game every Sunday and letting you choose satellite tv game you want to see. There's no reason to watch local channels showing the home team win by a blowout when you could switch to a game featuring two unbeaten teams battling it out on the other side of the country. It's also possible to get sport packages showing college football, college basketball, international soccer, and more.

For movie lovers TV can now provide an experience more rewarding than the local multiplex. An excellent selection of premium channels and movie channels show everything from independent documentaries to Hollywood hits- again, something for everyone.

Kid's programming has also taken off in recent years. That concept of kids rotting their brains in front of the tube is obsolete with the programming available today. Discovery and National Geographic channels bring the natural world into your living room- in high definition if you want! There are Science and History Channels explaining how the world works and teaching those lessons of the past. For the occasional after school break there's always a great choice between kid's programs or age appropriate films.

Family life is also fast paced these days between school, after school activities, work, social activities, and other obligations. Scheduling conflicts can always arise as well. Mom and Dad might want to watch their favorite film on HBO at the same time as the kids' favorite Nick at Nite show comes on. Instead of leaving someone unsatisfied, it's always possible to use DVR service to record one or both of the programs, guaranteeing that no one feels left out. With all the convenience and the wide range of programming, satellite TV is hard to beat for quality family enjoyment.

There are Direct TV packages for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're a sports fan, a movie buff or an HD enthusiast. There is a channel package for you and you won't find better value than you will with Direct TV deals.

Celebrity Culture - A Land That Talent Forgot

In a time when we are constantly bombarded with celebrity gossip whos sharing a bed with who, who has had new satellite tv job satellite tv who has managed to find the worlds smallest dog and dress it up like a little girls doll you would be forgiven if you lost a slight sense of reality.

Can these people really be making a living by fluttering their eyelashes and flashing a bit of skin? Well seemingly the answer is yes and in a way we are all to blame.

Celebrity culture has been around in one way or another since time began, people have always looked up to their heros, in the past you would have such celebrities as Edna Manley (the famous artist) and Bobby Moore (Famous Footballer) but it seems that people have started to worship a different kind of celebrity.

These people have little or no talent but somehow manage to find it onto the front-page of every newspaper and magazine going. Just look at Paris Hilton, she is locked up in prison but still manages to make front-page news!

I believe that UK celebrity worship started to take a turn when the Celebrity Big Brother of 2007 aired on channel 4. Three UK Celebrities caused a massive world wide up roar by appearing to bully the Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, this caused national outrage and the three celebrities were branded as racists.

Two of those celebrities havent been seen in the papers since (Jo OMara and Jade Goody) but one celebrity has somehow managed to raise her profile after the whole affair. Danielle Lloyd a former Miss Great Briton and former playboy cover girl took a time out after the Big Brother show and now appears to be back stronger than ever.

Will the public forgive these celebrities for anything or will we all eventually get tired of seeing non entities on out TV screens and on the front pages of our newspapers.

Only time will tell but I for one look forward to the day when we can let our children look up to celebrities because of their amazing talents, be it acting, singing or dancing, rather than celebs that make a living by dating footballers and appearing on reality TV shows.
